Professional Practitioner in Holistic Therapy

We instinctively use touch to connect with each other, to nurture and to express compassion and love. Holistic massage can be richly comforting, and positive gentle touch can also have a profoundly beneficial effect on you and your baby’s health.

Pregnancy is a period of time, more than any other, when health and happiness should be considered as a priority. We are now in an age whereby pregnant ladies are taking a more active healthy role during this special stage in their life, being additionally aware of the changes in their body, the development of their baby; making the most of their pregnancy and that of their unborn child.

From the second trimester onwards, Holistic Massage is especially beneficial. The primary aim to relax the mind, body and spirit, relieving the stresses and strains, enabling you to better deal with the emotional highs and lows that are commonly experienced by most pregnant women, new mothers (and also fathers).

Lower back pain is probably the most common complaint of pregnancy, but a gentle massage can do a lot to relieve the discomfort. Pregnancy massage benefits both mother and unborn baby; soothing back pain, alleviating emotional fatigue and other pregnancy related ailments.

Depending on where you are in your pregnancy and your general comfort and needs, specific attention to the following areas can also aid in your general wellbeing.

Feet - Professional massage of the feet and ankles can relieve stiffness and tension within the body. The extra weight being carried during pregnancy can cause the feet to swell and to get hot and puffy. A tender foot massage conditions the feet and helps to alleviate minor swelling/puffiness.

Abdomen - Gentle effleurage of the Abdomen (from the second trimester onwards) can enhance the chi in both mother and baby and is reputed to assist in the overall body energy, alleviating water retention, indigestion and heartburn. Soothing strokes have also been reported to calm active, kicking babies (Option A).

Scalp & Face - A gentle scalp massage is particularly helpful for relieving tension and soothing jangled nerves, incorporating a relaxing face massage helps to relax and smooth the stresses from the features (Option B).

Hand & Arm – A deeply relaxing massage can provide relief from stiff and tense muscles. Conditioning the hands and nails and helping to reduce minor swelling/puffiness (Option C).

During the latter stages of pregnancy Reiki and other forms of appropriate massage can soothe and relax, helping to relieve general discomfort, anxiety, stress and worry.

Reiki – A versatile therapy, Reiki can be received fully clothed and in any comfortable position. It is a deeply relaxing, soothing and non invasive therapy, said to help alleviate minor ailments such as backache, constipation, stress, anxiety and depression, beneficial both during and after pregnancy.

Indian Head - A gentle Indian head massage is particularly helpful for relieving tension commonly found in the upper back, shoulders and neck area, during pregnancy, clearing and enabling clarity, soothing tension away.

Some of the more specific benefits include:-

  • Can soften and nourish the skin (*minimising stretch marks)
